About Me

Hello! I see you have ventured over to the "About Me" page, which is something I too love to do. I love to know a bit more about the people I follow, and I find that even my friends whom I know well still have a thing or two that surprises me.

I grew up in the Central Valley, and even though college, marriage, and early career took me to southern California for some time, I have since returned. My husband and I are both from here, but became friends while attending Biola University. My dad always likes to say that he paid all that money to send me to school just so I could meet and marry a boy who lived down the road from me. I tell him it was worth it.

My husband is my rock. He is a man who loves the Lord and loves the people the Lord has given him.  As an associate pastor, he has been called into ministry and gives his church and those entrusted to him his best. As his wife, I walk right beside him, always involved in what he is doing and excited how God is leading us. Well...I'm excited most of the time. Sometimes I'm tired, and sometimes I wish the things God had us do were easier, but God has infinite grace for us.
We have been married eight years, which is just amazing to me. Three of those years were spent in the LA area while my hub completed his degree from Talbot School of Theology and I finished my credential work and a Masters in Education. That time began the difficult fertility journey we've been on. Even though it hasn't been easy playing this waiting game, I can't say it has gone without growth.  I am a stronger person today because of our infertility. (You can read more about this journey at our blog The Loveliest Way.)

Music is a huge part of my life, and from a very young age, I was playing piano and writing songs. My husband is the worship leader, so I'm right by him every Sunday morning. I've heard it said that we all are creative people because we were made in the image of the great Creator, and I believe it. For me, music is a main way I express myself. I'm trying to be braver about sharing what I write and play, but I also recognize that sometimes a song is meant only for one.
I am a true-blood Type-A person who gives everything everything I've got. After years of teaching full-time, then, I took a year off and then returned part-time. This change of pace allowed me to pursue other interests and devote my time to other things, bringing me more joy and balance to my life. Music was just part of that. Cooking, baking, gardening, even sewing have become interests I enjoy. There are few things I love more than completing a successful project, whether it's a perfected caramel sauce, a home-grown tomato plant, or a ruffly apron. Lucky for me, my husband has that in him, as well. We make a great team.

This blog is a place where I document the bits and pieces of our life. Thanks for reading and stopping by - please stay awhile!
