How to Have a Happy Halloween:

Option One: Carve an adorable kitty pumpkin.

First, cut the top and remove the lid.
Second, scoop out all the guts. Third, cut out a jack-o-kitty face. And voila! Kitty pumkin head!
Cute enough to kiss. Kitty kisses!
Option Two: Dress your dog up in a chicken costume.
Either way you do it, have a happy halloween!

Can we move in yet?

It's coming along...

Traveling Sister (Again...)

Well, those of you who know my family well know that my sister Chelsea is always traveling somewhere. This past summer she was in Maine working as a Nanny for the third year, and she just recently got back from Hawaii for a short trip. However, these trips are minor in comparison to what she is doing now. She left Monday night for Guatemala where she will be studying Spanish for four months! That's right, I won't see my sister again until February 15th, when she will return fluent in espanol. Please keep her in your prayers. Chels, I hope you're able to read my blog, so you stay updated on our exciting lives in Visalia. (Just check out the corn maze blog to remember what incredible things you're missing out on...)

She just sent us an email explaining what Guatemala looks like and said it is beautiful with cobblestone streets and brightly colored buildings. I googled Antigua to find some images, and I thought this photo sounded like it fit her description. So, until I get a photo from her, here's a picture of Antigua, Guatemala. Hopefully hers doesn't include a creepy white van.

A-maze-ing Fun

My Knight in Shining Armor
Last night, Robby and I went with his youth group to the Corn Maze. (I know. Many of you are thinking, "Only in Visalia...") The amazing maze is shaped like a giant dragon and includes twelve check points. Each check point has a hole punch with a different shape, so the goal is to make it to every check point and out before the time is up. Our team did it, no thanks to me. I was lost within the first few minutes. You really do get turned around in that thing. Robby was a great leader and a good sport. Don't you love the picture I took of him?

New Tradition

This weekend Debbie, Deb, and I decided to start a new tradition among us for Christmas. This really came as I was remembering this tradition one of my high school friends did. All the girls in her family chose one theme/gift idea (like vases or slippers), exchanged names, and went on a hunt to find that perfect gift for that person. We are doing something similar. Our first theme idea is "nature." We are now officially on the look-out for nature-y gifts for our names. I've got some ideas already.

Something kind of funny: There are only three of us doing the exchange, and yet we drew names. Think about that. There is no possible way for us not to know who has our names. We even discussed this and said there was a possibility, but on the way home, Robby clearly explained to me that could not be so. If I am A, Debbie is B, and Deb is C; and if I have B, then B could only have C, and C could only have A. Otherwise, two would exchange, and one would end up with her own. Did you follow that?

So, Debbie and Deb - we are savvy, college-educated women, and yet we missed this :)

My Deco Books

As many of you know, I am a little crazy about decorating. Now, I wouldn't say my style is super creative or artsy or anything (I envy those people who have a knack for that), but I do like things to look put together and nice. With that said, preparing to move into a new home in December has made me somewhat of a fanatic when it comes to looking for decor ideas in our new home. One of my favorite magazines and sites is Domino (dominomag.com). It has this neat tool that allows you to save pictures from websites, make little comments to them, and put together an online scrapbook of ideas. I've been doing it for awhile, and I thought I'd post one of my decobooks on my blog. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see some of my favorites. And let me know what you think!

New Pics of our Nephew

This weekend, Deb and Nathan have come for a short visit. We had breakfast with them (and the rest of the Feely's) this morning followed very shortly by lunch; spent some time shopping in the afternoon; and had dinner and a baseball game on tv later on. It's been a full but nice day. And the fun's not over! We get to have lunch tomorrow, as well. It seems our visits center around eating!

Fun Weekend

Last weekend, Robby and I left our Central Valley home for the weekend to go to Steve Gros's wedding in San Diego. On the way, we stopped at some favorite destinations and some saw favorite people. Thursday evening, we spent the night with John and Kelly; Friday, we went to Disneyland and the wedding rehearsal; Saturday we visited with the deGrassie's in Carlsbad and went to the wedding that evening; and Sunday, we attended WLBC for morning worship and had lunch with church friends. Read on to see some highlights of our time...

Kelly

I was able to see my friend every day of our trip, which means the deGrassie's pretty much traveled anywhere to make sure they saw us as much as possible. We tried to do as much of the "usuals" for us as possible - dinner at Cheesecake Factory, shopping at the Carlsbad outlets, and enjoying each other's company at their apartment.

Disneyland!!!

We couldn't go all the way down to San Diego without making a short stop at the happiest place on earth. Right now, the Magic Kingdom is decked out in its autumn decor, which quickly put me in the mood for pumpkin pie and hot chocolate. We weren't able to stay long, but we took in as much as we could, and were so happy when Dave was able to join us!

Welcome to Disneyland!

Little Pumpkin Mickey greets us at the entrance.

We actually were able to sit at the cute spot on Main Street that is always being monopolized by some giant family. This time, we were the seat hoggers!

Wedding Bells

On October 4th, our good friends Steve and Kimi were married, and Robby was a groomsman. The wedding was absolutely stunning and the group of people gathered for the celebration were obviously thrilled for the couple and excited to see God working in their lives. It was a lovely and Christ-focused ceremony.
