A Birthday Visit
Last week, I enjoyed another wonderful stay at the deGrassie's, celebrating Kelly's birthday with her. We had such a great time doing all the things we love most, and as usual, the trip was just not long enough.
I rolled in Tuesday night, late again, and we stayed up talking. I also gave her a couple non-birthday gifts: a cute little onesie for the boy and a hand-made blanket from Debbie. The next morning, she got to open her birthday gift, a bright springy new wallet. For lunch, we made pizza with the sourdough pizza dough I had brought, but unfortunately the darn thing stuck completely to the pizza stone. Instead of a beautiful pizza slice, we got this:
Not very pretty, but quite tasty nonetheless. I'll have to make her a pretty one when she comes to visit me next. We also did a little grocery shopping, which has become a tradition, and enjoyed a delicious ATK meal that night, as well as the next. Being that it was her birthday, we headed out to celebrate, leaving John to watch Anna. (I know. Nice husband, right?) We saw the movie Water for Elephants (which I did not enjoy) and then had cheesecake at the Factory (which I enjoyed very much). There's nothing like celebrating the day one was born with a huge slice of White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut Cheesecake!
Kelly and I got to have another night out and did a little shopping. Kelly had a Williams-Sonoma card burning in her (new and cute!) wallet, so that was the main event for the evening. We had such a fun time browsing through W-S and trying to find the perfect purchases. Back at home, we enjoyed a delicious new scone recipe that was topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum!
It seemed Friday morning came all too soon. After a tasty waffle breakfast, it was time to say our good-byes, which is never fun. We both look forward to seeing each other again very soon, and no doubt another little deG member of the family will be there next time.
Happy birthday, friend! To many, many, many more!

The next day, Kelly had to go to a doctor's appointment, so I gladly filled in as the babysitter for Anna. I suppose Anna wouldn't have viewed it that way, though. I am Anna's party friend, and she knows I'll do just about anything for her. She and I had a great time reading books, playing outside, and doing her very favorite thing - looking at pictures, especially pictures of her and animals. We scrolled through all the pictures of Calla and Honey on my blog, and she still wanted more!

Anna, this picture of Calla is for you! |
John found this post first and left the picture of Calla front and center. Anna and I walked into the room...then, a loud squeal, followed by "CAT!" and Anna was running to the computer. Way to put Calla up for her! Thanks again for making my week perfect!
